I didn't get a lot of sleep last night because here in Spain they tend to have dinner really late in the evening.
.NET Developers Advanced Introduction to SharePoint 2007
Ted Pattison delivered an excellent session for .NET developers explaining in detail some of the aspects and pitfalls when doing SharePoint development. This session was oriented towards people unfamiliar with SharePoint development and didn't bring anything new for me but the session itself was rock solid.
Help Me with My Intranet! (Interactive MOSS 2007 ECM and Portals Q&A)
Joey Blondin and Ryan Duguid from the Microsoft IT Team did a Q&A session on common issues with SharePoint 2007 implementations and explained how they themselves managed to overcome some of the difficulties when implementing SharePoint at Microsoft.
Microsoft Visual C# Under the Covers: an In-Depth Look at C# 3.0
Luke Hoban's session explained the new language features in C# 3.0 including auto-implemented properties, collection initializers, local variable type inference, query expressions, extension methods and the like. I found this session really amazing and has made me all the more excited about the upcoming release of .NET Framework 3.5.
Microsoft Search Server 2008
Ryan Duguid already anounced a scoop in the Q&A session and what a scoop it turned out to be. Microsoft Search Server 2008, currently in beta, announces a new era of search experience in both WSS 3.0 as MOSS 2007 environments. It also comes with an Express Edition which is limited to a single server deployment but is totally free to use. It does require WSS 3.0 at least, so in terms of licensing you will at least be needing a Windows 2003 Server license.
I have received a trial DVD of the beta and will definitely be checking this out !
Other
I decided to skip one session in favour of hanging out with Jan Tielens and some of the 'Ask The Experts' guys at the Expo Hall. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy ;-)
